Yep I agree, his transfer negotiations are second to none!!!

In the past fews years we've signed the likes of Wickham, Barkley, Marshall, Bothroyd and Loovens. All big name players. Maybe it's Gray's contact book and powers of negotiation that arn't up to the standard of Dave Jones. Just a thought.

In terms of negotiation, I'd back PA against anyone. I bet he's an absolute swine to negotiate against. Glad he's on our side.

Is that why we don't get the players we want or need....

Being a swine isn't a sign of a good negotiator.

possibly so, but there weren't a host of clubs after those players at the time we got them.

We failed to sign Marshall, took ages to get rid of bothroyd, Wickham went to leeds as did Barkley and it took far to long to get loovens signed up in the summer.

I have major doubts about the quality of the powers that be at our club.

Agreed.

Any successful negotiation is about achieving a win/win. I.E both parties think they've got a good deal.

Our strategy is obviously a win/lose.

Don't know why folk keep using the Marshall thing as a stick to beat MM with. He was sold for a million quid...might come as a shock, but a million quid is quite a bit of money for a L1 club that had no money just a few months before Marshall became available. And, a bit of a risk. What's he done since by the way?

Wickham and Barkley went to Leeds. Your point is? Their parent clubs sent them elsewhere. The fact we got them in the first place probably deserves recognition, but i get the feeling you're not really interested in that.

Took ages to get rid of Bothroyd?? What a bizarre criticism.

For those of you that are interested, I've just got in from tonights fans forum with PA. It's all going from memory off the top of my head so apologies if a little vague in places but here goes....

When talking about Mammadov. PA said that at the time, he'd shown proof of funds, he was a very wealthy man, he had a proven track record at other football clubs, he was on the Azerbaijani FA and everything seemed ok. He commented something along the lines of in a lot of these countries in Eastern Europe, the former USSR, that the government giveth and the government taketh away (or something along those lines) with regard to wealth. When asked what safe guards were in place to ensure that we didn't get sold to the wrong type of person such as Mammadov he said it was very difficult to look to years down the line at what may happen. He said Milan's legacy was however very important to him and he would only sell to who he felt were people to take the club forward.

He said that one of the first things Mammadov was going to do was sort the scoreboard out, he also said that one of the first questions he asked was how much investment was needed to get us into the Premier League.

With regard to the shirt sponsor he said that he was confident that we would get the money and in the mean-time Milan had made up the short fall (or at least that's how I remember it). He also said that there were constantly people who were getting in touch with the club over the last year alone with regards to takeover/investment, some had the money to back it up and some didn't. The only reason the Mammadov announcement was made was because of the story and details being leaked in France and the club were then in a position of either announcing it or lying to the fans.

He also said that at present the club were not paying anybody to go out and find a new owner. He said that 95% of takeover deals were handled by the same small group of poeple and if somebody wanted to buy a club, they would go to these people and they would know who was available.

PA said that the shirt launch was the worst he'd ever been involved in, He said that Sondico had been let down by a factory in Poland and then they tried to rush the shirts through which lead to mistakes being made n the shirts. The deal with Sondico is for 3 years and PA was ready to pull the plug but assurances have been made to ensure this doesn't happen again and the club were compensated. He said he's confident it won't happen again but if it does, it won't happen a third tim. He said the deal was financially and commercially the best for he club. The great thing about this deal is we can design our own shirt where as if you go with a bigger brand, you're very limited to what you can have.

He said that there were already plans being made to mark the clubs 150th anniversary. He said he thought it deserved a really big celebration.

When asked if we'd ever sign a convicted rapist he worded his answer very carefully. He knows Ched Evans as he did he deal to sell him to United and he said you could argue the case either way but looking at it purely from a commercial aspect and what it would do to he brand (taking aside all other arguments such as morals etc) he said he didn't think it would be a good idea given that we are a family club (or something along those lines).

A lot spoken about ticket prices and offers, PA stressed that whenever these offers are made, they ensure that season tickets are still the best value option for fans. We have another kids for  £1 offer to do and it will be on Boxing day.

A lot spoken about catering, can't remember it all but PA did say that Linleys weren't making any money on the deal.

Sam Hutchinson is due to go for his operation in the morning.

We'd been watching Stevie May for some time but were only able to do the deal once Antonio had been sold. May went to see Rotherham first then us, Rotherham however had already agreed a price so that didn;t help our negotiatons with St Johnstone. He said people forget May is just 21 and it's a huge step up for him inthe Championship. He says fans need to be realistic with their expectations but the coaching staff are convinced he will score goals for us.

Madine has gone out purely to get game time. GTF really pushed through his loan move to us, Leicester took some convincing as they thought he'd be a usefuul player to have in their squad this season but GTF wanted game time.

Paul Corry could have gone out on loan last season, a deal was in place but he was advised (badly) not to go.

PA wouldn't reveal the identity of the player Milan Mandaric claimed we had a multi-million pound bid for in August and he also said that he didn't believe the hillsborough disaster was putting off any potential buyers.

That's as much as I can rmember at the moment, it may not be 100% accurate as it's purely from memory but i'll post some more as I remmeber it.

Cheers.

Wow - and I thought I wrote long posts.

"best lounge is given away"? Is that why we didn't get teamsheets in the 1867 then? It's a bit of an insult anyway. Us foundation members might not be big corporate sponsors but we are always there , win lose or draw, supporting the club and paying our money.

200 ish at £8 p/mth plus overpriced beer prices. Not exactly giving it away.

I know someone who went and he said pretty much the same thing, think we know the player in question was Wickham. And although I think Sondico is a terrible choice you have to say fair play for offering compensation and the fact the club gets a choice in kit design

Haha team sheets . Every week we sit laughing watching the mad scramble for the sacred team sheet. The old bloke who gives them out really does think he's Willie Wonka handing out golden tickets.

Who makes the money on the beer ? club or Lindleys ?

If we did get to the prem I imagine we will lose the 1867 lounge to corporate . Good in there though , warm , quiz, live footy on TV. Short walk to your seat afterwards.

You're easily pleased

The compensation doesn't help Owls fans wanting kits

No good having a great kit design if it's produced wrong or unavailable to buy
