Gray - "were making chances"

I'm a bit baffled by this statement

Shots on Target last six games

Reading 2

Cardiff 1

Ipswich 4

Leeds 3

Watford 4

Brentford 3

*Source;Sporting Life

17 attempts on target over 6 games, less than 3 a game.

Relegation stats you might argue!

Norwich who are in a bit of a slump themselves have had 31 over the same period.

Our midfield contribution is negligible.

Just saying...

Is there not a formula on owlstalk for pulling apart shot stats ? Much like discounting penalties and tap ins on people's goal scoring records

What's wrong with tap-ins?  Goals win games whether they're scored from 3 yards or 30 yards.

We need a tap-in merchant.

Jesus Christ are we bottom of the league and in 30 million quid of debt.... Get a flipping grip.

We'd all have taken (or most sensible people) the start we've had.

Is that the height of your ambition?

Simply not being quite as bad as what we used to be?

You should never be satisfied.

Because people immediately assume that somebody tapping a ball in is indicative of having real quality.

People have banged on about how good Nuhiu's goals have been but none of them exactly proved how he's a good player. They were just scrappy tap ins.

Yes, of course they're still goals. But the argument trotted out by certain people that Nuhiu deserves to start because of his goals this year is just wrong. Maybe one of them showed quality, the rest were all absolute jokes.

Not at all, far from it.

That's not what I said but it's always win a game and were going up and loose a game and were going down on here.

Just looking for a bit of perspective but I should know better

Especially at home - Madine had one header from a Drenthe cross last week. Other than that I can't remember a clear sight of goal.

At least we defend from the front though.

That's the point. It's fine for Gray to say we are creating enough chances after an away game. Other than the Cardiff game, where we still should have scored more than the one we did, we have created a reasonable amount of chances for an away side, especially with how well our defence has played.

At home the onus is on us to actively seek to turn one point into three. I can't remember that many spells of concerted pressure or too many clear cut opportunities that we have missed in our league games at Hillsborough this season.

QPR, Bournemouth, 2 v Blackburn, Charlton , Boro, Ipswich weren't tap ins

Yevoil was and so was Leeds but he was simply made a run to finish a good move. and 1st v Boro was scrappy

When he does score his goals are well taken.

The notion he only scores tap ins isn't true.

There are other debates that can be had about him of course

We don't create enough chances at home but if we did have a tap in merchant we would probably have won a couple more games and picked up even more points away - Bolton for sure, Leeds perhaps, we had the chance to rescue a point at Cardiff and we had enough play in the Brentford game to warrant an away win.

Gary Lineker made a living out of hardly ever scoring from more than 10 yards out.

We need a poacher, a fox in the box type of player..............

This season. Only one of his goals wasn't arguably scrappy this season and that was his most recent one. Can't remember who it was against.

Leon Best was the king of the tap in.
