Jonathan Ford
This whole defend from the front that SG says a lot. I completely agree with and it has proved rather effective thus far as we are very hard to beat, however as per the other adage, you dont win games unless you score goals... This is becoming very apparent. For me Stevie May has been great at the "Defend from the front" element, however this leaves him far away from where he should be. Right up front, off the shoulder of the defender. He is picking the ball up far too deep and is running into the channels etc. I know ill get hung for this but for me we either need someone who will do the running for him (NOT Nuhiu) or we go 4-2-3-1 It seems that the rumblings against SM are now starting. And this is unjust for me. He is not being utilized properly. With the 4-2-3-1 you have a more advanced MF who could hunt the ball allowing SM to stay in the front position. Thoughts? torres
Yep, now it's the systems fault that May isn't very good.
Essix Blue
Gray sets out not to lose - he knows the limitations of his squad (which is mostly not his fault) He knows the formation required and the defensive work ethic needed from all 10 outfield players. That's why he's loath to playing players (such as Madine, Drenthe) who might not work to the same standard so to speak.
james o connor
I wouldn't say it's the systems fault May isn't doing very well I'd say poor midfield players like Semedo lee coke Helan the list goes on are more to blame ... That midfield is shocking lee and Semedo prefer to hold the centre halves hands when we attack and the wingers can't cross .... Not ideal for forwards really
