Crofty_11
When was the last time we actually scored from a through ball in behind the defence? In fact when was the last time we actually tried one. Absoloute dross.

There must be loads during training
Crofty_11
When was the last time we had a player capable of doing it? I suppose you've answered the question really. Lee has the ability but for some reason, we never seem to find that pocket of space in front of the defence to use them. Just an observation that the majority of teams we've played this season seem to play a number of through balls in behind our defence. I wouldn't say we play with a very high line but last week against Leeds, they got in behind a few times. Granted some were offside.
till_i_die
There was one point in the second half today when Maghoma cut inside (as he was doing brilliantly in the second half today) and played a great ball that May (y'know, the superstar striker whose runs are too intelligent for the rest of the team) completely and utterly failed to anticipate, when he could have easily been through one-on-one. FlyingOwl
May makes so many runs. But no one spots him. Ever. Everrrr!
SiJ
It is indeed a problem. Another one is no one ever gets in behind, either winger or fullback. I think the only time anyone has this season was Palmer against Forest...and he ballsed it up in the end. Zero creativity.

Guest Sheff Owl
It's not just about through balls, there is so much more.. Lee, Hutchinson, Semedo, Coke don't shoot. Maghoma messes about with the ball too much, has the odd shot. Can't remember the last time Madine, May and Nuhiu had a decent shot on goal. Maguire and Drenthe seem to be the only players that will try to shoot out from nothing. Defenders don't chip in with goals.
whatdial
When was the last time we crossed the ball for a breaking midfielder to get a goal in the penalty box?
IstillhateSteveBould
Play Rhys McCabe. He can breach a defence with a pass.

Guest wilyfox
I remember Maghoma and Nuhiu trying to slide through for May and Drenthe, but neither pass found their man. It is the type of service May needs, but I question whether we have the necessary attacking mid to do it.
Lee A
We have absolutely no central midfield unfortunately, In an attacking sense, they're always 80 yards away from where they should be, who's going to play the pass?
pgmetcalf
May makes so many runs. But no one spots him. Ever. Everrrr! It's not only that, a distributor should be able to force a player into making a run

CS5swfc
In all fairness against a side that much better than us you go 5 in midfield and counter on them with pace, not 442 with hope(less) on wing,
gurujuan
Can any of our forwards run beyond the defence? Seriously, none of our forwards can make those sort of runs even if the ball was played. Only Stevie May has the right idea but he lacks the pace and physical presence to get through, far too easy to outmuscle.
trevdi9
we are much more of an aim for the big man side and unfortunately struggle to vary it ,
gurujuan
And when we try to vary it, our attacking players are just not good enough
