Lavery & Other Injuries

Recommended Posts

Anybody know when Lavery is going to be fit again. It seems a hell of a long time for him to be out.

Whilst he is young and still very raw, he looked a very good player in the games he played and has got to be a better option than Nuhiu and Madine.

Hutchinson seems like he will be back for Ipswich game, at a guess on the bench, Lee possibly for Leeds game. Lees hopefully for Leeds as well so we could be near full strength for a couple of games until the next batch of injuries!!!

I thought Lavery had a set back as his injury had not heald the way we wanted, we need Hutchinson and Lee back ASAP, gutted about Lees

I think that report is out of date.

Gray said after that the fear was unfounded.

Another few months I reckon.

Gray has put an update on the OS, with current injuries and doesn't mention Lavery so I suppose it's anyone's guess. Not saying Lavery is the answer to our issues but to me he offers a lot more than Nuhiu and Madine,  and the lad seems fearless when he plays and we need some of that!

Regarding the cruciates

Firstly it depends which cruciate we're talking about - anterior or posterior

The anterior cruciate almost always requires reconstruction when damaged - unless a very minor tear (which can easily become a major tear/rupture)

Usual return time is 6-9 months - 9 months seems to be the shortest, safest window of return

Posterior cruciate damage is more complex - but if reconstruction is required then the results are so variable as to be really difficult to give a prognosis

The better news is that posterior cruciates often do not benefit from surgery - but the rehab is still quite slow and complex - 6-12 months

I know some people really push the boundaries of rehab and aim for much shorter return windows - but the risk factor rises exponentially and tbh relapses are quite high with secondary complications

Thanks for the insight, I always assume a cruciate injury is somewhere between 6-12 months.

I think it is safe to say Lavery won't be playing this side of the New Year unfortunately.

Hutchinson was a really stupid signing

Yes he's a talented footballer, but we had him on loan for about 18 games last year and he was only available for 10 of them, he retired from football because he's that badly broken and we simply can't afford to carry that

I like him, and if he was fit he'd never wear a Wednesday shirt as he's just too good, but we really should have looked elsewhere, maximum we'll get out him is 25 games and that simply isn't close to being enough

Unfair on him though that pal as it's not the injuries that were blighting him in his past that have fooked up his season so far. I believe he's done something to his back. Like you said yourself we wouldn't have him at all if he didn't have these probs so you have to take tough with the smooth. Let's just hope he's back soon.

regardless of where Hutchinson's current injury is they will all be at least partially linked. as above decent player but a total waste of a signing I would have preferred to have signed someone perhaps not as talented but more likely to contribute. but then what do I know , I thought afobe was decent and he couldn't score if his life depended on it

Just to clarify the injury to Hutchinson is his back, nothing to do with his knees.

This could have happened to ANY footballer.

It's not his back or his knees but least he's in contention for tuesday.

It was confirmed by a Jurno (Dom Howson) that it's his back. It was worse than the club thought.
