Beatpusher
Side that faced Wigan last season Man City starting lineup vs WAFC League Cup 2013:- Pantilimon, Richards, Boyata, Lescott, Clichy, Milner, Fernandinho, Javi Garcia, Lopes, Jovetic, Dzeko Yaya Toure, Jesus Navas and Alvara Negredo came off the bench
matthefish2002
I think I remember Manuel Pellegrini getting praised last season for taking the cups mopre seriously then the other big clubs do. It might be a long night.
Guest wilyfox
Whoever they put out there, we'll get spanked. I bet we hardly see the ball for 90mins. I reckon Silva will be rested, but Nasri & Navas will turn Mattock & Palmer inside out. If they play Demichelis, we might manage a consolation goal on the break through May or Maghoma if we're lucky. Guest wilyfox
We will be solid at the back Hope so, but I have my doubts. Their attack will be a cut above anything our defenders are used to dealing with. I'm hoping we'll get men behind the ball and go man for man. We could play well and still lose 4-0. adamnich
Our only real chance is if Man City take the game too lightly. I can remember Man Utd losing a couple of times in the League Cup to the likes of Southend and Coventry over last ten years so its not impossible. erm... MK Dons anyone? matthefish2002
erm... MK Dons anyone? Good point but I would still not put any money on a Wednesday win. Will settle for a respectable defeat and no injuries for the Cardiff game.

bradowl
We gave Newcastle a hard game pre season and they're top of league.... If you turn table upside down.

alanharper
Have to remember that amidst the talk of City putting out their second string, we'll more than likely be making changes too. I reckon Kirkland will play and I wouldn't be surprised if Loovens gets rested too, to avoid yet another yellow card if anything, so our defence which has been the highlight of the season will be disrupted (not that it bothered us at Burnley!). I'm going there with the expectation that we'll battle, make it tough for them yet ultimately lose by 4 or 5 - anything better is a bonus. If we play like we did in the first half at Birmingham we'll get slaughtered, play like we did in the second half and we'll give a good account of ourselves. Therefore the odds are about right, but as we know upsets can and do happen. They don't often go in our favour, but who knows...
pat blondeau
Have Wednesday ever been longer odds than 17-1 to win a game?
alanharper
Yes, every time we play Wolves at home - we never beat Wolves at home. In fact this Friday marks the 50th anniversary of the last time we did so, which is quite incredible given the number of times we've played them since then! Idea for a Dunsby thread...
