Head Coach disappointed with goals conceded...
AITOR KARANKA described Saturday’s 3-2 reverse at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday as “difficult to understand” after watching his side fall three goals behind inside an hour.

Boro conceded from three set-pieces to hand Wednesday an advantage that proved too much to claw back, despite Grant Leadbitter scoring twice from the penalty spot during the closing stages to set up a tense finale.

"I'd like to know what was the problem because I don't understand,” said the Boro Head Coach.

“We are a team who is organised, but conceded three from set pieces. I don’t understand that, but sometimes these things happen.

“The best thing is they that we had that chance to draw the game right at the end and we kept going. We have to work with the same intensity.

“They were stronger and better than us, but this is the Championship. We were completely dead at 80 minutes, but we had a chance to draw the game.

“The best thing for us is to play the Capital One Cup tie now on Tuesday. We have to analyse the game, and then we look at Tuesday and the Preston game.”

Aitor paid tribute to the Owls, who won at Boro for the first time in almost two decades.

"They are a good side," he added. "They were well organised, and they played well."
