Milan Mandaric And Stuart Gray

Recommended Posts

This is a massive shout out to both Mandaric and Gray.

I know it has been a really frustrating time at hillsborough off the pitch in recent weeks, but how refreshing is it that we have a chairman who really has the clubs best interest at heart. I don't know Mandaric' bank statements so I will not be commenting on the lack of activity in the transfer market in recent days but I think he is handling the takeover situation really well. Ever since Milan took charge the club has been on the up and heading in the right direction. And this magical football club is smiling again. There is a buzz around the ground and I really feel we will be in the top half of the table come the end. (With a little bit of luck). We have quality in different areas, and just lack in one or two positions to turn those 1-1 late draws into 3 points for us to get back where we belong.

Stuart Gray I was a little anxious when we appointed him, but he's delivered. All the players seem to want to play for him, and the squad harmony is there for us all to see. And yes we have lacked a bit of funding from Mandaric but he's inherited the squad we have today and what a difference he has made from Jones. He seems to get the best out of players, the efforts there and the players that were out on loan or rotting in our development squad are now fighting for there shirt, and some arguably are out best on the pitch. Madine for example, although obvious circumstances was on his mind, he really looked down and out last season, and now theres a belief and some fire in his belly to prove himself and its showing, I am hoping he starts tomorrow cos he's done brilliant when he's come off the bench. Although I am not faulting Nuhiu.

I just want people to get behind this squad, as I truly believe this team with a couple of players here and there could make us a strong championship side.

Well Done Stuart!

I still have doubts about whether SG is the right man long term, but he's doing OK for now. Until and unless we're taken over, we're going to have to get used to a team built on a budget, and Stu seems to be able to get the best out of them and make them more than the sum of their parts. At least, unlike far too many of our previous managers, we're not going out at 14:59 on a Saturday afternoon looking like we're beaten before a single ball has been kicked.

Milan Mandaric has been a far better Chairman then I could ever have imagined. While I would have been grateful to anyone who saved us from Administration, I was concerned about his previous track record. However, much to my surprise he has turned out to be a surprisingly decent bloke. Hands-off style, loyal (possibly too loyal) to his managers, not a publicity seeker. OK, he's a businessman who expects a return on his investment, but he's going about it the right way rather than simply asset stripping the club to make a quick buck. He seems to be genuine about making sure that he sells us on to someone who is committed to SWFC.

Really, so on the face of it HM is the right man and is committed to SWFC, is he?

I think looking at it, Gray is over achieving imo, we are seriously lacking in depth.  Just take a look at our bench in the last game, we pretty much had only 1 attacking option in Madine.

I personally don't think we will be able to keep this momentum going unless further players come in asap.   Gray has my full backing no matter what happens.

But its obvious Milan wants out, and is unwilling to take us to that next level which we are all so desperate for.

I think Milan has done a great job compared to some of the previous owners we've had, but it would be nice if we could have one decent season for a change and something to shout about.

What exactly does this mean...because I thought a managers job was to get the best out of his players regardless of who they are

The point I'm making is with the current threadbare squad we have with next to nothing resources available, Gray is doing a fantastic job.

Which unfortunately won't last until we bring in some reinforcements.  We have no cover on the wings, we probably need a replacement for Lee who may be out for a couple of months even more and with Kelhar out for the season, that leaves us with just Zayatte as our only cover at centre back.

We have a solid base to build on for this season, if only we can get some quality reinforcements in sooner than later we could be in for a good season.

How we are now compared to previous seasons and quality of players we have compared to the quantity of poo we have previously had I don't know how people can complain ! We are now a stable club which is reducing it's small debt each season. I don't know why people are expecting miracles ? Rome wasn't built in a day ! Just be patient our time will come !

Gray is getting the best out of players who were going nowhere and in many cases out of favour under DJ.

Maguire, Maghoma, Lee, Palmer, Nuhiu, Mattock.  All better players now.

Lavery too, arguably Coke and Semedo.  Let's hope he can turn Madine around.  And maybe McCabe and even Corry......

Plus the quality of the signings is obvious - Loovens, Lees, Hutchinson, Westwood.

We just need more bodies and firepower.
