Season ticket sales down?

Recommended Posts

To pick up on something that was mentioned on another thread. Can it really be true that season ticket sales are down on last years figures? I must admit, I haven't been paying much attention recently, but the last time I looked, sales were up on the same stage the previous year. If it's true, amid all the euphoria of the takeover, why the the fall off?

It was also mentioned on the other thread that a lot of experts on Wednesday's finances seem to exist.

Truth be known, no one knows until the next set of accounts are out, so suggesting sales are down is nothing short of scaremongering.

The comment on the site the other month was ticket sales are 'comparable'. Which basically means lower.

Its generally the same pattern. Consecutive lower half / mid table championship finishes = consistent reduction in ST sales. Our relegation and subsequent promotion the other year kind of reset them to a higher level.

All my mates have renewed, though there's probably a few that haven't there's also some that are new season ticket holders or those that are returning after missing out for a few seasons.

Numbers will be close to last season come start of season.

What's scaremongering about discussing whether season ticket sales are up or down? As far as I was concerned, I resumed sales were up on last year and was a little taken aback when someone mentioned that they thought sales might be down

Didn't the club say we had 13k renewals at the end of the cheaper renewal date.

I would like to know how many new ones we have sold. I can't imagine it being many.

I'm sure I read somewhere that it was around 1,000 that are newbies.

You asked a valid question yet some of the 'experts' think they can totally dismiss you by saying that you are the one who is scaremongering, a very strange way to engage in a topic if you ask me.

Salmonbones is very strange to be fair, he's a proper weirdo.

Probably the free U-8 tickets which aren't free any more will be affecting the figures.

My 6 year old has had a free ST for the last few years, but because he only goes to a handful of games anyway I haven't renewed as I'm not paying £50 when it was free before. He'll probably end up just going to the occasional quid for a kid game.

Even blind loyalty runs out eventually.

Nothing a couple of half decent signings and a bit of optimism couldn't cure though. Too late for this season unfortunately.

That would be true if not for the hardcore 13 - 15,000 that renew regularly so in fact it's bollix
