As things stand

Recommended Posts

We could be kicking lining up as follows against Brighton as follows:

Kirkland/Westwood

Buxton

Hutch

Loovens

Helan

Maguire

Semedo

Lee

Maghoma

Antonio

Nuhiu

Which for me is a definite improvement on:

Kirlkland

Palmer

Gardner

Zayette

Mattock

JJ

Prutton

Coke

Helan

Antonio

Nuhiu

I'd love for the takeover to be ratified and for Terry Henfleet to be pictured on the OS with the number 10 shirt, but even if it doesn't happen for a while, I still reckon we're in better shape than this time last year.

Give it a week and there will be a lot of movement in the championship, the better players holding out for specific clubs will decide, the clubs losing out will move onto their next targets, and the viscous circle starts spinning at a rate of knots.

We'll end up with another 4 or 5 new players by the Brighton game.

It ain't a bad side that, it's not a promotion side but it ain't bad at all.

It's not just about the players. It's how you use them. Hodgson went into the world cup agonising about players but seemed to have little idea how to mould them into a unit that wins games. Compare with the likes of Costa Rica who had very little high profile talent but were organised and played as a team.

This is exactly where I am, totally think Bruce is right unall, but the intention of the thread was to highlight that if this was it, then we're in a better position than we were last year

You're all wrong cos we won't be playing 4-4-2, Gray has shown that his favoured formation is 4-2-3-1 and so it should be.

I'd like it to be

Westwood/Kirkland really can't decide at the moment.

Palmer, hutch, Loovens, Helan palmer and Helan to cover the lack of pace

Semedo, lee

Antonio, Maguire, Maghoma

Madine/Nuhiu both will have a big part to play as things stand

In May (ish) I said we'd start the season playing 4-2-3-1, with the attack lining up something like this

Antonio........Maguire........Maghoma

.................Nuihu / Madine

The general response was along the lines of ... 'Where's Fryatt, Wickham & Macheda?' and 'I smell bacon' lol

Tbf, Leon Best could end up in that team, on loan

Can't argue with op. Definitely a stronger side now. Fancy starting a championship season with Prutton, Coke, JJ and Helan across midfield.

Jeez thats a sary midfield and add Defensive Dave into the mix and its no wonder we had such a bad start!!

Agreed, the core group is much stronger.

You build from the back and the 2 keepers are solid for this league, in defence we have a good combination of experience and consistency, along with the pace of Palmer and Helan.

The issue we have is the quality to make the difference, strikers that turn draws into wins.

Up front we are way short, but as the most expensive commodity we will either have to wait for the ratification and spend, or wait for the loan window and bring in the proven scorers that way (as per) .
