Richowls18
Been looking on the mirror website (yes i know) but they have a piece up about the longest suffering fans since 1888. I think it make an interesting read, check it out http://www.warrenunited.net/think-youve-got-it-bad-find-out-how-your-team-ranks-in-the-fan-suffering-league/
dan140177
Not read it but aren't Rochdale the most unsuccessful club in the football league
Wolfmanjack
I was just going to say that. I believe that in their entire history they've only been promoted from the bottom division once, and that only lasted for one season

bradowl
Fans suffering of late are Portsmouth and Coventry.
Leofric
Arse! We've nearly been wound up twice by HMRC this season, facing relagation into pub league status depths & the chairman is still on holiday.Who cares? We'll be back. Never gonna be big, but we'll always be up for the cup - watch this space!
Galaxypuppet
The premiership was formed in 1882? First I've heard.
Stoop
I'd say pound for pound we're the longest suffering

dobbo
Stockport are now in Conference North having been in the Championship not that long ago, not long suffering but that has to be the biggest fall from grace?
HOOTIE AND THE SHIT TU
There was a table a couple of years ago which put us next to the bottom of the biggest under achievers. Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.
Guest pembo55
Always thought myself Newcastle fans are up there on this list. As a big club like they are and winning no major trophy in over 50 years I think puts them well up there.
torryowl
I'd say pound for pound we're the longest sufferingno where near stoop ......in my time I seen us finish in the top 6 half a dozen times ,promoted 5 times,2 cup finals ,a league cup win and been in Europe 3 times all things a lot of fans of other clubs could only dream of . matthefish2002
It an interesting table but how do they work it out? I would say in last 15 years we are one of the biggest under achivers. A traditionally big club who have never even had a sniff of getting back in the Premier League since we fell out of it.
lanzaroteowl
Stockport are now in Conference North having been in the Championship not that long ago, not long suffering but that has to be the biggest fall from grace? Luton for me. I remember them being above us for many a season and having many England players in their ranks, like the stein Bros.
FlyingOwl
I feel sick for the Portsmouth fans, Europe & fa cup finalists not so long ago....league two within the blink of an eye. Though I suppose their fans will just be happy that they still exist.
Tamworthowl
I remember reading something similar in the late 70s. Probably just before promotion year. Record based on previous 10 years, which just about covered my time supporting the Owls. It just added up points won, regardless of division (maybe an adjustment for 42/46 game seasons). We were second bottom. Only Workington were worse: they had to apply for re-election to the League every year. Depressed me so much, I thought I was committed to a lifetime of suffering. Obviously it's all relative and in perspective. BUT Newcastle fans don't know what suffering is compared to dozens of other teams.
