Game with Waddle, Hirst, Palmer - Hillsborough, 20 July

Hi all

We're putting on a charity football match at Hillsborough Arena on Saturday 20 July (gates 2pm, KO 3pm). Lots of ex-Owls are playing including Chris Waddle, David Hirst, Carlton Palmer and John Pearson. Tickets are just £3 (kids free) and all money raised goes to Weston Park Cancer Unit. Tickets are available in advance from Hillsborough Arena (Middlewood Road) and Hillsborough Club (Bradfield Road), or on the gate on the day.

Yes - there is a bar in the club house.  And yes - Hirsty did angle for a bar tab as a rider!

Nearly 500 pre-sales (though kids aren't counted in that).  The police have said we can have up to 2000 maximum, but I doubt we'll reach that.

Palmer was a bit rusty, giving away a goal, but was wonderful to see him in the blue and white again. Where was Waddle?

No Hirst or Waddle both injured I heard. Palmer still looked about 20 and quite clumsey. Matt Hamshaw was probably the best I thought.

Matt hamshaw stood out, rhodesy could never play football when was growing up together never mind at 36, curtis woodhouse was a star and took timeout to talk to the kids and sign autographs! Was a decent turnout! The band was poo though!
