It's impossible to talk about the Glasgow clubs without it descending into a Rangers vs Celtic bunfight.
But the truth is both fanbases are rife with sectarianism. The support for Ulster loyalism among the Rangers fanbase isn't like us waving England flags at the world cup, or laying wreaths on remembrance day (or when something tragic like last week's events goes off). It's more like the kind of stuff the EDL and other assorted morons get up to. Just as you'll see IRA/INLA/etc slogans among Celtic fans, you'll also see UVF/UFF/etc slogans among Rangers fans. I've seen it for myself when I've been to Ibrox with my Rangers supporting uncle.
Both the Republican and Loyalist paramilitary groups are terrorist organisations and were recognised as such by the British state. And while it doesn't do to differentiate between forms of terrorism, the UFF were more likely to throw a pipe bomb into a primary school than any of their republican counterparts and drew most of their mainland support from the likes of the NF and C18.
While you get 32CSM (dodgy republican) etc people distributing propaganda at Celtic you'll also get hardcore loyalist groups, and I don't know what it's like now but outright fascist organisations were tolerated and welcomed by many at Ibrox back in the early 90s - I've seen it for myself when my Rangers supporting uncle used to take me to Ibrox when we visited them in the holidays as a lad.
They're as bad as eachother - there aren't many clubs that can rival the pigs for idiot fans but both of these manage it.
(None of that's a dig at you Steveger, you seem like a good lad to me from what I've seen you post - I don't want to tar all Rangers or Celtic fans with the same brush - after all that's what the sectarians do so I'd be as bad as them - and it's not a dig at any of the celtic fans on here either - the point I'm making is that celtic and rangers fans accusing eachother of various forms of hatred, bigotry and sectarianism is a bit like watching two bald blokes fight over a comb).
I'm looking forward to the match though - not often you get a side that's even worse than us but can bring this many fans from that far away ;)
