swfc-dan
Just been watching back on some of last seasons games on WW. One thing that struck me was that Madine still has a fair bit of inconsistency in his game. Some games like home vs Preston, Exeter and Dons he was awesome, pretty much unplayable at times and scored some cracking goals. Then you see him at the start and end of the season and he looks half the player he can be. His best displays did usually seem to be at home didnt they, so getting that same form away is probably something to work on. Also DJ will hopefully help keep him positive after a bad game, as I think Madine's can get frustrated and let it affect it form at times. Hopefully his poorish end to the season was more due to tiredness from a long season than anything else. One things for sure this lads a talent, and if Jones can keep him confident then he can have a great season in the Championship. At 21 though inconsistency's still expected I guess, keep thinking he's older than that!
trevdi9
the injury lay off didn't help tbh . before that he was on fire , he will /or should settle a bit more as he gets a tad older ,i think theirs another rhodes in the lad tbh , just needs to find it within himself ,if he does we will have a cracking player ,
DobbinTheDonkey
Poorish end to the season was another big man alongside him. Madine scored most of his goals alongside Morrison or Lowe. Ranger and COG give another outlet. Madine has to be the figure head of all our attacking play.
Guest Lawrie Maddens Hump
Think most sportspeople play on confidence. Goalscorers in football are always more confident when they are scoring goals- Madine is no exception.
Rustyfunk
Unequivocally yes. If ever there was a confidence player its our Gaz.

Goatboy
Just down to age for me. Don't forget he's probably 6 or 7 years away from hitting his prime. Very rarely you'll get a striker as young as him who consistantly gives his best. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if next season, or the year after, he has a whole poor year. We have to be patient with him.
Zeus
Didn't he score 6 in 12 under Jones, thats a strike ratio all the best strikers look for albeit in a poor league

Whereas alongside Lowe and Morrison he supplied them with chances and vice-versa. The partner he was alongside made a big difference to his play. Hopefully we can find that partner this summer (not sure Ranger's the answer). Not sure on the reason for the difference between him home and away though? Bluesteel
All players have good and bad runs, even Rooney and Torres. Madine needs the ball into the box and in to feet for him to thrive, I think he was frustrated at times.
BullitsAA
every player is a confidence player I agree with this post so much..... its such a stupid cliché, who doesn't play better when they're confident?
swfc-dan
I agree with this post so much..... its such a stupid cliché, who doesn't play better when they're confident? Yeah but some players are up and down much more in their performances, whereas someone like Buxton is at a steady level each week. Someone like JJ too is clearly a confidence player, means players that rely on confidence to perform. Madines a young lad though as we know, and it could be more just a frustration issue for him at times after he's had a bad game/lack of service, rather than lacking confidence. Once that gets straightened out as he matures we could have a top player. Edited May 23, 2012 by swfc-dan
BullitsAA
If you look at Buxtons performances last season when his confidence was clearly lacking your point looks blighted but I agree on some levels.
