Salmonbones
OK this is not going to stop in the matchday section for long but I'm chuffed as bugger. I sent a couple of speculative emails out yesterday evening and today Chris Waddle has replied to me and donated to my just giving page for the SCH. Now to put this into perspective for me. I consider Waddle to be the best player I have ever seen pull on a Wednesday shirt. I have quite some players to choose from, Pressman, Hirst, Sheridan, Waddle, Di Canio, Carbone, Nillson, Palmer (yes, he was a great player) so i'm chuffed as hell. A promise of £150 should I complete my challenge too. Cheers!

Salmonbones
Legend.Never understood why he isnt involved in the club as a coach. He used to be, I remember going to a few reserve games - he used to bellow instructions out to the players. They listened too. He took Ritchie Humphries under his wing as I remember, tried to keep his career on track.

I remember him working under Shreeves but nothing seem to come of it which i thought was a shame. You'd think he'd make a poo poo hot assisstant manager. Tea Baggins
Whould love to see him involved with the youth team as he is a icon who has loads of respect. Seems a good lad too with plenty of charisma.
Salmonbones
Seems a good lad too with plenty of charisma. I agree - don't know if anyone remembers but end of season home game, the only pro's who would consistently clap the kids doing a lap of honour and who genuinely seemed to be interested in them were Hirst and Waddle, and also Sheridan to a certain extent - obviously Sheridan is cutting it as a manager now, but these 3 were the biggest jokers around. Just to have their attitude back at Hillsborough as coaches in the youth setup would be contagious. That or the local pubs would do a roaring trade. Salmonbones
This has been picked up by Radio Scotland of all things and might appear on a show tomorrow called "Call Kaye", on a piece they are doing tomorrow about how hard is it to give up alcohol. Would be cool if they mentioned God had donated!!

To deal with players who's skill level is low is hard work and if they cannot fulfill your instructions at all even when repeatedly shown what to do can become a tad too much, i.e. not waddle's fault at all ! wakefieldowl
Chris w is a total legend. I was privelleged enough to watch a football genius wear the bue and white many times. He was absolute class. One of my faves was him gesturing 10-1 at pigs fans when he was substituted late on in a 3-1 win at hillsboro, in reference to the semi final win. Legend ! andrewowl
Told this story before, but worth another mention. He was outside the same pub as us at Cardiff, chatting along to anyone and everyone, I’m still trying to hunt one of the snaps I took of him chatting to a young lad of about 8-10 years old, with I guess the lads dad just stood to one side looking on in awe. A true gent and still a credit to the club.

Salmonbones
just a shame we did'nt get him a couple of years earlier and get to see more off his sublime talent. Think we had his best years. His body couldn't do the things he used to try to get away with, so he had to change his game a bit. As a result I think he was a better and more consistent player in his 30's
Guest Bedders
Legend end of!!!!!!! I'm just 40.....and sometimes think oh to be 10 years younger....but sod that I'd have missed Chris doing the step-over week in week out.....pasting left backs for fun & setting up endless goals. Not to mention the 40 yard pinpoint crossfield balls.......flip me how good was he when you really think about it!!!! ......& Alan Hansen every week on match of the day with his Scottish drawl....."CHRISSY WARDLE......" Na I'll take being 40 all day to have seen that!!!
