HOOTIE AND THE SHIT TU
I was at that game, kick-off was late morning on a Sunday. Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.

Headhunters everywhere on the tube looking for some action! GOOD TIMES! WTID We went by coach, when we were let out of the ground, the police held back Chelsea fans either side of us, we made a mad dash for our coach, i thought we were going to get lynched, it was scary. Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.
Sweet Shezza
It doesn't matter if I never see another match.Had my share of footballing highs thanks to that team. I'm 37 and lucky enough to have seen Hirsty's rise and fall. Thanks to him and Big Ron's team I've been blessed. Was at the game. Crappy rusty ground, no atmosphere and hooligan fans smashed our coach window. How good were his touches for that goal. EASY! CLASS!
Guest Sheff Owl
Wasn't there a rumour that Ferguson wanted Hirst so bad he offered Money and Mark Hughes? I could be wrong on that but i'm sure that was a rumour going around at the time.

Tamworthowl
Cracking header from Williams to set up Hirst. He rarely gets the credit he deserves being surrounded by so many legends.

vontemp
Did'nt Pleat get Jim Magilton in part exchange from Southampton, when Hirsty went ? Magilton signed for us in September '97, Hirst went the other way a month or two later iirc. Thankyou very much David Pleat.

TrickyTrev
Privileged to see him play. Seriously how much would he be worth today? 20 mill+? He'd be worth a British transfer record bid, just as he was back then The complete striker and Fergie's number one choice ahead of Alan Shearer and Eric Cantona. Guest SnookerOwl
Wasn't there a rumour that Ferguson wanted Hirst so bad he offered Money and Mark Hughes? I could be wrong on that but i'm sure that was a rumour going around at the time. I recall Fergie offering £3m plus Mark Hughes and Brian McClair. It was rejected, and later Fergie offered £4m cash. At that time Hirst was the best striker in English football, no doubt at all about that. Look how sharp and quick he is in that video. Superb centre forward, and my Owls hero. Gutted that his career went the way it did. His potential was never realised.

1867Heaven
On his day he was simply unplayable..... 25Mill plus by todays standards. WTID We got offered either 4Mil and Andri Kancheskis or 5Mil straight 2 years before Shearer went to blackburn for 3.6 It would of smashed the British transfer record, i know people who play golf with him and to this day he detests Tricky Trev for it cus it was blocked They ended up with Dion Dublin and we ended up with a player who didn't want to play for his manager, although he still loves the club
