Okay so its the end of the season now. Its Time for our Gary to really start earning his money.

The first thing i would personally be doing Monday morning is offering JJ a new 1 year contract.

I am the first to admit, he can be a bit part lazy player who you sometimes never see for 90 minutes ....

But just every so often he does a piece of magic, like that goal today, like that goal away against Yeovil, almost like the goal he should have scored vs. Huddersfield away.

JJ is a livewire player, the type of which we will need next season, he scares defences at this level and they very often cant cope with his direct style and pace. He is Wednesday to his core and he's been unlucky with injury & illness this season, but IMO we owe him 1 more year, to be that player we all know he can be.

Come on Megson, sign him up !

Thoughts ?

As frustrating and lazy as he can be he also offers something that no one else at this level can offer.

He can change games and frighten sh1ty league 1 defences.

I also think Megson has given him a bit of a kick up the arse.

We need him next season. He is the only half decent winger we have and we need to bring a couple in as it stands without losing him.

Agreed. But just on a one year basis. Moments of brilliance but sometimes just not there. If anyone daft enough to offer a longer term contract then I'd say - with some sorrow - goodbye.

Normally i'd say a big fat NO to a new contract here (to inconsistant)........but on seeing the other attacking options at the club......Clinton, Sedgewick, Teale.......I'm afraid I'd say stick with the devil you know! Sign him up! We could bin him off & end up with another batch of Clinton, Sedgewick & Teale.

The worrying thing for me is that the last couple of interviews Megson has given he's mentioned that JJ can only mange around 70 minutes and he seems concerned about it

I would look at a new deal but will JJ want more than a 1 year deal you would think so...

Been looking over what Megson said.....

Megson said: “There are things in his game you can’t improve - ie, his running with the ball, his pace, his quality - but he very rarely finishes a game, because of tiredness, and away from home his performances haven’t been up to what’s required to enable us to get results.

“So I have spoken to Jermaine. His contract is coming to an end. He will be offered a contract and we’ll see where we go from there.

“But he will have to improve on certain aspects of his game, or that’s going to be happening to him all the time; I’m sure he doesn’t want that, and I don’t.”

So i think there is more to just offering JJ a new deal, maybe Megson want's to offer him a deal on the basis that he improves - so a contract that is based on performance and then maybe incentive of a new deal? so on that a 1 year deal with option to extend would seem right.

Yep

We need at least 2 wingers. If we didn't have JJ we would have to bring in 3/4 wingers and that just ain't gunna happen

Now I don't want to be one of these owlstalker that puts 2+2 together and gets 5 but.....

I find this comment interesting. Reading the home and away bit in the prorgramme today and it was about JJ. He says that for away games he doesn't have a room mate because he doesn't sleep well at night.

Hence his poor away performances and apparent lack of energy?

We can't deny, sometimes JJ is cr@p. He's so frustrating but to have that ability to create some magic out of nowhere, that alone is worth keeping him for. There are not many players that can spark a game into life like he can.

Sign him up.

I'm not sure what's going on with JJ but i seriously believe we will offer a contract that is also related to performances...i can't see JJ just accepting a 1 year deal and being in the same situation next summer.

 | I thought he'd already been offered a deal? JJ seemed to applaud all 3 stands after he scored. I hope I'm wrong but I think he's leaving.

Your right Jon, GM did say he would be offered a new Contract, but maybe just maybe it wont be the contract JJ wants, i know im in the minority but im not one of his biggest Fans so wont loose sleep if he is off somwhere else.
