Sam779
He was forced to retire through injury. Thought he was a great player with huge potential.

Salmonbones
Ryan Jones was a massive local lad who shouldn't have been able to be a pro footballer, he was so unorthodox, but he just managed to do the simple things very well and cause mayhem with his height and ability to be in the right place most of the time. He also had a knack of injuring opposing players, quite by accident too as I recall. Would have been a legend but for injury, a proper legend too not your Lee Bullen kind of hero. Guest duediligence
My mate used to play Sunday league football were unfortunaly Ryan Jones ended up. Always remember him telling me he'd played against him. Also said he was head and shoulders above anything on the pitch and stood out a country mile. Pinging 50 yard passes all over the place, no one could get near him. Sad what happened to him, could have been something special.

owl-zat
Best moment I remember with Ryan Jones was when he scored in front of the Wednesday fans at Loftus Road (diving header I think) and just laid there looking up at the Wednesday fans. Guest zero)))
Best memories of Ryan Jones was a screamer against Oldham I think and when after Bartman dribbled past the whole of the Man City team Ryan Jones slid in on the line to claim the goal. sheriwozgod
The truth is somewhere down the middle between crap and legend.......................... The lad was very tall and very strong with a thunderous shot , and he definately had the knack of arriving at just the right time in the box.........................his scoring record for a midfielder was excellent. However , his size meant that he wasnt the most mobile and he could invariably look clumsy in posession.........................dont think he would have reached legend status but had he not picked up that injury he would have carved out a very useful career. Ian Knight on the other hand would most certainly have been a legend and would have gone on to play for England in my humble opinion. In all my 40 odd years watching Wednesday he is the best youngster to come through our ranks.................and in all honesty if he hadnt got injured when he did we would have probably lost him to one of the biggies. Utah Owl
Seem to recall he got a goal for us away at Wimbledon (Selhurst Park) one night. Pressman spotted him and quickly hoofed it downfield, Jones (pretty sure it was him) let it bounce once, drop over his shoulder and smacked it into the top corner from about 30 yards out. Classic route one!
