Personally i prefer JJ as a winger we missed him last season when he wasnt in the wide areas but Irvine as been suggesting we could see more of him up front this season

which ever position his end product is very frustating!

Where would people like to see JJ playing this season?

I think he will play as a striker.

Sedgewick and Jones as the wingers perhaps - or put Miller on the right with Potter and JOC in centre is quite likely.

I agree with you, but I wonder if Irvine even knows himself what he plans to do with him?

In the last couple of weeks he's said on the one hand that he's aiming to bring in two more strikers, but on the other he's fine with it if we only get one and use Johnson instead.

Think Irvine will got the normal 4-5-1 defending 4-3-3 attacking with JJ as right wing in 4-5-1 and up front in the 4-3-3

JJ for me is best playing up front, I dont see much point in having a winger who can't cross, no matter how fast he is.

Interesting that Irvine doesnt regard Tudgay as an importanty player for us next season, dont you think?

Anyways, back on this topic. I think Johnson should be left on the wing, and we should have strikers who actually naturally play there. Johnson can cut in and mix it up through games if he wants, but generally he should be out on the wing where he is most dangerous.

I reckon his shooting is marginally better than his crossing - maybe playing up front is the way to get the best out of him.

I think Irvine's plans for him depend entirely on who he is and isn't able to bring in, ie bring in 2 strikers = JJ's a winger, can't bring in 2 strikers = JJ's a striker

JJ is better upfront and i think he will tear this division apart.

I can't wait for him to score a few goals at the start of the season and watch certain people claim they backed him all along... then when he hits a barren spell at the end of the year, rip him apart again

I think both positions depend on who he is paired with. Upfront with a big target man would work but not with Tudguy. On the wing with Nolan behind him works but not with Otsemobor

JJ is the biggest enigma this club has had for a while, Good Winger? No not really. Can't cross a ball to save his life. Good Striker ? No. Couldnt hit a barn door from 5 yards. But and this is a big but! He is the most exciting player we have had for some time. His pace is scary, he has good feet, decent touch (at times) and he scares the living poo out of most championship defenders, league 1 defences beware. He is a player with an attitude problem, a hothead, quick with his elbows (Naughton & Cresswell but hey ho! not a bad thing) he will probably never live up to his potential and i cannot think of a manager who would get the best out of him. But. He's our enigma and i wouldnt have it any other way.
